1st Woy Woy is located on the Central Coast of NSW, on the edge of the Brisbane Waters in Woy Woy. We are part of the Gosford District and the Hunter & Coastal Region Scouts of NSW. Established over 90 years ago in 1922, 1st Woy Woy continues the long recognised traditions of Scouting that were originally established by Lord Robert Baden Powell (‘BP’) in 1907 when ‘BP’ ran an experimental camp for 20 boys at Brownsea Island in Dorset England.
1st Woy Woy Sea Scouts has its own long traditions and operates in accordance with the aims of the Scout Association of Australia, which are quite simply:
To encourage the social, physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual development of young people so that they may take a constructive place in society as responsible citizens, and as members of their local, national and international communities.
Our members make a promise to live in accordance with the laws of Scouting, which all serve to fulfil the aims of Scouts Australia and promote the ideal of a duty to god, duty to self and duty to others.
These aims are very noble and we believe that to achieve them, youth members need to enjoy Scouting, be outdoors as much as possible, and most importantly have fun. It is the role of our Leaders, with the support of our Parents to develop great programs to fulfil this aim.
