Cubs (age 7 ½ – 11) who meet on Wednesday & Thursday nights 6:30 to 8pm
Scouts (age 10½ – 15) who meet on Tuesday nights from 7- 9pm
Venturers (age 14½ – 18) who meet on Monday nights from 7- 9pm
When you become a member
at 1st Woy Woy Sea Scouts...
Never forget that you are
a 1st Woy Woy Sea Scout First
and your Section Second.
We ask that you arrive just before starting time and don’t leave your child until there are two leaders who are present and the hall is open. Because we practice Two Deep Leadership at Scouts, this is a safety and logistics issue if the 2nd Leader cannot make it, and another Adult Helper can’t step in to assist.
If you have younger children, we ask that you supervise them around the water, and boating equipment, and be aware at all times where they are given our proximity to the water, a public boat ramp, and public car park.
At closing times please arrive early enough to come into the hall and listen to messages at closing parade and meet other parents and the leaders (they are parents as well). We do not wish to have the children running off to a car in the car park as it is dark and dangerous, and it may not be the correct car.
Parents are welcome to stay for the night watch or even join in.
Drop Off and Pick Ups at Weekly Section Meetings
At our Group, when your child becomes an invested member and makes that promise, you and your family also become members of Woy Woy Sea Scouts and Scouts Australia.
Our Group began and continues to exist because our families want their children to join the adventure and experience weekly physically and intellectually challenging activities in the Scout hall, or through outdoor activities such as bushwalking and water sports, and large-scale events such as Jamborees, where Scouts from around Australia and the World come together.
Our families want their children to learn life skills such as independent thinking, leadership, and problem solving skills while having fun, through outdoor adventure and by building a strong sense of community. This is why at our Group, all our members are Woy Woy Sea Scouts first, and Joeys, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers or Leaders second.
Within every section at 1st Woy Woy, our aim is to:
Encourage the physical, mental, social and spiritual development of
our young people so that they may play a constructive role in society.
We achieve this through the Scout Method: the principal elements of which are:
Voluntary membership of a uniformed group which, guided by adults, and is increasingly self governed in its successive age groups.
Commitment to a code of living as expressed in the Scout Promise and Scout Law, the meaning of which is expanded as the members grow towards maturity.
The provision of a wide range of fun, constructive and challenging activities, including opportunities for adventure and exploration both indoors and outdoors.
The provision of opportunities for leadership and responsibility.
Learning by doing.
Encouragement of activity in small groups.
An award scheme which encourages participation in its full range of activities and provides recognition of individual achievements.
A commitment to helping youth from the adult Leaders.
